ENJO was started in Austria in 1990 by Johannes Engl, who together with his father, wanted to minimise the daily use of harmful chemicals, make a positive contribution to reducing land and water pollution and produce better cleaning results with less effort.

Today, ENJO is an internationally recognised brand distributed in over 25 countries.
New Zealand ENJO Directors Ines Brandle and Nick Porter were introduced to the product by Johannes Engl.

Seeing the potential of the products and also the positive impact they would make on the environment the couple set up ENJO in New Zealand in 2001. Their vision is to alert every New Zealander to the fact that there is an alternative to chemicals and detergents.

ENJO is perfect for sufferers of asthma, allergies and chemical intolerance related illnesses.

Since March 2000 ENJO has held the ISO certification 14001 and 9001.

In 2006 the ENJO product range won the Gold Award at the Eco Products International Fair for innovative products that contribute towards environmental sustainability while being economically viable.

In 2007 ENJO was selected as a finalist for the Auckland Regional Council Sustainable Environment Awards under the Sustainable Business award category.

In 2008 ENJO New Zealand gained approval to carry the Sensitive Choice logo endorsed by the Allergy and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand
